We’re living in the fun zone, people

the minute *jr stepped into the room, i promise you i heard a party going off in everyone’s heads. science&tech tutorial just got a little more interesting.

i feel a manic semester coming on. my insides are already twitching, anticipating a voluminous amount of uni work as well as two school placement days a week. breeeeeaaaaaathe. that said, we’re a bunch of tough grad dip troopers and i reckon we’ll storm through just fine.

on another note. i find this utterly revolting. it’s the miss world malaysia pageant and instead of voting who should be crowned, the ever ingenious people behind the scenes have decided to let the public go on a ‘killing’ spree to eliminate contestants. so hey, browse through the list of potential ‘victims’ and click ’kill’ for faces you don’t think deserve to win. do it AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT and oooh, watch in estatic glee as their pictures slowly blacken out.

oh and to purge the guilt after your killing saga, go ahead and purchase a table for the gala night and do your bit for the children’s charity.

….

ok, am i the only one who sees the total incongruity of it all? so, the ever creative media and advertising people may find this kind of macabre humour amusing, and yeh, i’ll bet the public find it positively engaging participating in such scintillating, dazzling fun, but i’m guessing no one really thinks about what kind of message they’re handing out especially to children, eh? call me a prude, but sorry, i happen to know how much kids glean from their surroundings.

give it up for malaysia, ya’all.

it’s mind boggling, it is.

UNmajor huzaah

it’s been a terribly buargh day with screwed-up subject timetables (communication, rmit, communication), send-you-to-the-bowels-of-boredomhood lecturers and a throbbing migraine stemming from last night’s nightmare.

note to self: for crying out loud, don’t watch dexter before bedtime.

rarrrrrmmmmmrrrrhhhh…

sigh.

-_-

tomorrow has to pick up.

Run along now

because i know something you don’t.

because you pretend.

because you hijack my thoughts.

because i think deep down you really like it.

because i could never tell you the real reason.

because i know there are far too many people who don’t really care.

because i don’t know enough of.

because of intuition.

because i need to feel safe.

because you don’t even know it.

because really, you’re just a child.

because you think you know all the answers.

Turnturn

i woke up to the same thought i fell asleep with the night before.

and it wasn’t flash to say the least.

that said, my day picked up after:

1) i ran my butt off at the gym.

2) my housie came home with a rockin’ new pair of boots which means i’m heading into the city tomorrow to check the shop out.

3) an old mate found me thru fb and we caught up for over an hour. he’s done so much since we last saw each other seven years ago and it was awesome hearing his extreme adventures.

4) i got a call confirming a teaching placement at wesley college!!

What’s been a happenin’

- i caved and finally succumbed to facebook. yea yea whatev.

- scene at the movies hit no. 2 on the hitz fm MET 10 charts!! huzaah! their ep is out so give a shout if you want to buy a signed and sealed copy. for those in the melb vicinity, satm will be sharing the stage with broken scar, nobody and the final eclipse on the 2nd of august at Ondergrounds, basement 27 russell st. tickets are $12 a pop. book early to avoid standing in the freeze!

- i’m settling in nice and well in my new place. my housies are fantastic and we’ve big plans to turn the place into a real apartment; think throw pillows, comfy cushions, rugs and all things girly. we’re pulling off a brunch this saturday with some mates so drop by if you feel like pancakes, quiche and lotsa other yummy yums.

- lauren started uni and followed in her big sister’s footsteps. ah, the Arts legacy *beams*.

- i woke up at the insanely early hour of 530am to log on to the uni’s timetabling system only to find the server down. i spent another hour very grumpily refreshing refreshing refreshing the page and finally gave up after the 364th try. buaaaargh!!

That said, jump rope ain’t for me

PE bootcamp is OVER!

and boy did we get a good workout!

we pushed our systems to the core, playing everything from soccer to sofcrosse to ultimate frisbee, did fitness and resistance training, pounded the gym floors til our legs gave way, learnt stacks of skills and drills and played with multicoloured parachutes and other doozy primary equipment.

it. was. awesome.

my muscles are dead sore and i feel as if i’ve been repeatedly run over by a truck, but it’s a good kind of pain. plus i probably won’t be needing the gym for at least another week, so huzaah.

and no, there was not a single session of throwing pundi kacangs into gelung rotans (although, i thought about it and i suppose it does aid in some motor perception skills. meh.)

okay, time to turn up the heater and rest this battered body. eight degree weather and aching thigh muscles don’t go too well together.

Push.Shove

i think i’ve been severed from the things i thought i knew and were so sure of.

but i’m grateful for unexpected phone calls and good friends who remind me of who i am and unwaveringly stand by my side.

(and who tell me about the right kind of powdered milk to feed my future kids. gotta love friends who look out for your unborn offspring, no?)
