Sugar

so i’m finally an official graduate :)

thanks heaps to my nearest and dearest who came to take photos/send me well wishes.

cheers to wk who became pro photographer for the night. weather and lighting were not on his side, but he did a fantastic job despite the unfavourable elements (and constant missing persons, hehheh). thanks buddy! photos will be up on flickr soonsoon!

a few grateful shout-outs to:

mum + dad + por + kong: i love you for giving me the best three years of my life and for travelling all the way just to see me receive a piece of paper.

hsu: for running around holding on to my bags/jacket/flower bouquets. i’ll gladly be your kuli carrier during your grad. loveyou, doc.

wen + ben + kai + ming: my fantastic favourites. it was an honour having you there. you guys will always have a special spot in my life (cheesy, i know, but true none-the-less). thanks, wen for finding my safety pins!

leroy and jase: my two right hand men - i wouldn’t know what to do without the both of you. oh, and champagne roses are my new favourite daisies. thank you.

theheroacrossthestreet: you added that extra happy shot to my evening. i’m so glad you were there to share in my milestone moment :)

shiung + pey-li + leny + leong hui: it wouldn’t have been the same without you three. thanks for rushing all over the place just to be there. and yes, i forgive shiung for mussing up my hair just cos he very nicely adjusted my gown. *grin*

longroom SO rocked. concept and decor were fantastic, not to mention the yummy tapas bar which we, on a whim decided to try. lounging in uber comfy alcoveswithredwalls, snacking on ten serve tapas dishes and rocking to old-school tunes is as good as it gets, i tell ya. i’m singing high praises, so go check the place out. guys, bring out the collared shirts if you don’t want to be turned away.

gin martinis smell like cologne. i like, but the taste is another something all together.

Soundtrack for

me when i’m with you,

and, honestlyeverything is alright.

i like how the future freaks me out

that much less

and how time and confusion

fade to grey

as we dance, dance along luckie st.

take me and hold my hand

before we step into the world at large.

Miscellaneous

in other news:

- the parents and grandparents arrive tomorrow!

- graduation is in five days. i have this huge paranoia that i’ll trip on my gown whilst walking across the stage. urk.

- i nearly burst a vessel running with TheBoy. he was obviously only trying to make me feel better when he said he hadn’t run in a long time. bah. that said, i did manage to put up a relatively good fight arm wrestling with him. at least i’d like to think so *fie pokes arm muscles*

- ready-made-no-need-to-boil  lasagna noodles make my day; patch-work lasagna layering make for good, kitchen fun :)

- my nutrigrain obsession has finally paid off. i’ve won two x-box toy thingamajiggies and they look cool, okay (eventhough i have no clue how the darn things work).

- afternoon lunches at docklands are the perfect beginnings to a weekend.

- i’m wondering if i reallyreally need to clean the house just because the parents are coming.

- onenightstands and tequila ‘lickthesaltsuckthelemon’ shots make for grumpy tummies. lalaland has nice lantern-y decor, but it’s really longroom that i want to visit.

I get amused easily

i reckon pastor david doery looks a lot like rivers cuomo.

if weezer ever needed a backup frontman (BACKup FRONTman, geddit, geddit? hrrhrr), well…

OHHH…

i just realised, pastor d’s intials are PDD.

phwoar!!

*fie has a moment*

so i went in to church yesterday to help funkypey-li make follow-up calls, update the young adults database, fold ignite welcome packs and shop at bridge road (lunch breaks are much better spent not having lunch, but going shopping instead, aye). chatting with geoff, running to and fro the fx and hp printers, getting free coffee offers at the church cafe and seeing how everything gets set up before sunday morning was pretty. darn. cool. you can bet your bippy i’ll be going in to help out more often (IN to help OUT. hrrhrr).

ok. eyes rolling, eyes rolling.

i’m going for a run.

Conscious

letterbox smile, stationary heart.

anticipate, anticipate.

it’s just around the corner,

and you say

everything is alright.

but sunset hellos, vague and elusive

become a little too much to hear.

and you keep finding ways to wonder and hope.

knowing becomes the least; it’s believing.

open your hands, loosen the grip.

allow for abundant grace

and the plethora of all things good.

eloquence turns lucid, and what remains

is that vague, sketchy sense of spatial relations.

so the sun’s out, and the morning feels a lot like yesterday.

vanilla nails scrabble beneath surfaces.

(and i think, how cliched)

snap to it, tap to it.

what do you mean when you say…

do you mean when you say…

conversations dappled with mirth

and just the right tincture of melancholia.

necessary, of course.

give a perfunctory wave, offer a sideway smile.

it’s today, you ask/say.

sidle away and you become who you were always meant to be.

***

if i had all the words

if i had all the inspiration

if i had every clever idea

if i had every impressive intuition

i’d still wouldn’t be able to…

cos that’s just how it goes

that’s just how it is.

when you become a little overwhelmed

a little imbued

a little predisposed.

Am sure as sure

the day is being such a tease.

everytime i start to head out the door, the skies open and i have to slink back to my room again.

doggone it! *shakes fist at sky*

in other news:

- you know you’ve landed a good one when he offers to walk the cold, 130a.m walk down to hungry jacks just to satisfy your chicken nugget craving.

- poets need the pain.

- justin michael is undoubtedly the funniest and most engaging singer/songwriter i’ve ever met.

- the secret to originality is the ability to hide your sources. amen, jm.

To smile about

thehero returneth tonight!

*gringringrin*

overheard at 9.15am:

missa: you need braces, spike. your overbite is bad.

missa, being my dear cousin (who leaves melbourne today, boo) and spike, the uglydoll stuffed ice bat (who stares at me when i sleep).

suffice to say, it was a rather one-sided conversation.
